Dip Wash Analysis Service
Dip wash analysis is an invaluable service that we deliver to our customers at no cost to the customers.
During the dipping process, the animals move out with a specified quantity of the dip wash. It is estimated that one mature cattle will take about 2.5 litres of the dip wash.
The water taken out together with the acaricide1 has to be put back. This process is called dip replenishment.
One way of maintaining this dip wash level and strength is by using the number of animals dipped. For instance, for every 100 head of cattle dipped, add 250 litres of water and 125 mls of farmtraz 12.5% EC. However, this is not an accurate method.
An accurate method is the laboratory dip wash analysis method. We take the dip sample after dipping and analyze its strength. For the dip wash to be effective against ticks it must be maintained at a specific concentration. For Farmtraz the concentration should be 250 ppm2.
We analyze this dip wash strength after every 3 dippings for free and advise our customers what adjustments to make. This service is for dips that use our product Farmtraz 12.5% EC.

Acaricide1
Acaricide is derived from two scientific words, Acarina and Cide. Arthropods, ticks and other ectoparasites like mites and keds are scientifically classified under the order Acarina. Cide means kill. Hence, acaricide refers to chemicals that kill organisms that fall under the order acarina.
ppm2
ppm means parts per million. This describes the concentration of the active ingredient in a given solution or solid. It is usually given in mg/lt and mg/kg respectively. In this respect 250ppm means 250mg of Famitraz in every litre of dip wash solution.
